Pregnancy Yoga is a holistic combination of various techniques which are designed to enhance each other in a positive, relaxed, empowering way.
It is a place were women can support each other and acknowledge their inner power whilst celebrating the presence of their unborn child.
From practising you can benefit from higher energy levels, improved immunity, more restful sleep, better digestion, greater range of movement, stronger body, better posture. As the baby grows it can also help to make space and help with optimum birth position.
Breath awareness, movement, deep relaxation, visualisations, mantra and meditations equip you with the tools to respond to physical and emotional changes and minor aliments.
It can promote a sense of contentment and help with anxiety and stress. The techniques can also help you to form a bond with your baby. Yoga can be used to relieve pain in labour and childbirth. It can also help with recovery of muscle tone and better gynaecological health after birth.
The courses also contain hypnoyoga for birth and rebozo techniques for pregnancy and birth.

Closing the bones is massage, ritual and ceremony. It is a way of celebrating and acknowledging the new mother, of holding and nurturing her. It works with creating and moving energy inside the body, helping to close channels that have been opened and therefore helping to avoid depletion. It works on closing the hips increasing stability. The techniques also work on stimulating lymphatic and blood flow, stimulating immune system, relaxing and warming muscles and fascia and generally creating a feel good factor. Closing the bones is traditionally performed over the first 40days postpartum however it can be done at any stage of life either to mark a significant time or for self nurturing
and is not exclusively for new mothers but helpful for everyone, especially if experiencing depression, anxiety or the need for some self care. For more information please do not hesitate to get in touch.
The Rebozo is a traditional shawl from Mexico, however shawls have been used over the planet in many cultures. These shawls were/are used throughout lives for many different actions but all are nurturing. Traditionally a young woman would be presented with her own shawl at her Menarche ceremony, as a young woman the shawl would be worn to keep warm and carry siblings and carry loads, on her wedding day it could be worn. When/if she became pregnant she would use the shawl to support her belly and it would be used during labour to relieve pain and help with positioning of baby and Mother. After, in the fourth trimester she would recieve closing the bones and be massaged and rocked and wrapped with the shawl. Then she would carry, cradle and rock her babies, older children would play making dens etc with them, again the shawl would be worn.
As an older woman she would be rocked and massaged using the shawl helping with aches and pains and then finally the shawl would be used as a shroud.
I offer Rebozo for a variety of different uses e.g. optimal positioning, active birth, closing the bones. Please get in touch for more details.
If you are pregnant or have a friend or relation who is you may want to celebrate and mark this time with a something special, unique and a little bit different. A Mother Shower could be exactly what you need. It is an alternative to a “baby shower” were friends of the pregnant mother gather to give her presents that are usually for the baby, at a mothers shower the mother is the centre of attention and any gifts are for her! I feel that it is vital that we as a culture take time to focus on the mother and this is a beautiful way to celebrate her, sharing food, gifts, stories, poems, love and anything else that might make the event meaningful and memorable. Each shower is as unique as the Mother so please get in touch to discuss further.
